Our Work > Our Impact
Impacting our communities
We share a curated set of examples showing what change looks like in practice across the North West and North Coast of Northern Ireland. These stories reflect work with communities, volunteers and organisations — strengthening early years support, improving waterways and shared natural resources, and enabling cultural participation and shared experience. The examples below form a wider bank, from which a smaller published set can be selected and refreshed over time.
What we mean by impact
Impact is the difference made in communities and shared places — whether that means stronger early support for children and families, more inclusive participation in community life, or more sustainable care of rivers and natural resources. The Society does not claim this work as its own: outcomes are achieved by communities, volunteers and organisations themselves. Our role is to support, connect and enable that work over time, using grant funding where appropriate and partnership working where it adds value.
Impact themes
The examples show difference made across four themes: children, families and early years provision; waterways, wellbeing and stewardship; culture, heritage and shared experience; and connecting regions and opportunity (including long-standing relationships with the City of London) supporting present-day community benefit.
