All Saints Amateur Boxing Club, Ballymena

Establish in 1961 to provide young people in the local community and surrounding areas with top quality boxing opportunities, ASABC sought funding to replenish their sparring gloves – to ensure they are sufficiently stocked to re-open with safe equipment.  In the meantime – with all training, competitions and classes postponed until further notice – the gymnasium is being deep-cleaned by a local specialist contractor and they are planning ahead for an anticipated increase in demand for disadvantaged youngsters to expend their energy when restrictions of lockdown are lifted.  And the Club continues to promote the “StopTheSpread” message by encouraging young people to “Do the right thing and choose electronic communication with your friends until this crisis passes”.  Impressed by the Club’s commitment to “boosting the overall health and well-being of everyone who enters through our doors through boxing and physical activity”, the Committee was content to endorse a grant of £600 from the Clothworker’s NI Fund, which will be paid when training recommences.
