Armstrong Storytelling Trust, Cushendall

With an application pending to register with the Charity Commission NI, Armstrong Storytelling Trust aims to promote the art of storytelling; develop new storytellers; and preserve and enhance access to stories by taking stories into schools, care homes for old people and communities throughout Northern Ireland.  The Trust sought funding to pay for storytelling facilitators to go into two post-primary schools and conduct four training sessions with 15 year-10/11 students in each, and then deliver a celebration event with the teenagers telling their stories to pupils from a younger year group.  With plans to undertake the project in the first term of the new school year, the Committee felt this would be beneficial post-isolation and to help build confidence; promote cross-community interaction; and improve talking and listening skills – and awarded a grant of £1,000.
