Articlave District Community Association

Based just outside Coleraine in a portacabin-cum-office under shared agreement with the Council, Articlave District Community Association is involved in a variety of projects – offering sporting activities, arts and crafts for young people in the village; distributing food hampers to local residents; collecting school uniforms, other clothing and toys for those in need; and providing afternoon tea boxes to senior citizens.  And they now plan to provide more sporting and social activities for the youth; programmes to help with education and reduction of anti-social behaviour; tackle mental health for all ages; and introduce a telephone service for the isolated and vulnerable.  Wishing to upgrade office facilities within the portacabin, ADCR sought funding towards a locakable metal cabinet for safe storage; desks; chairs; and a side table.  Both Alderman George Duddy and Councillor Norman Hillis were familiar with this organisation and how it has struggled recently.  With their endorsement, the Committee agreed a grant of £800 on behalf of the Drapers’ Company towards the items costed in the application.
