Ballyspallen Cricket Club, Limavady

Founded circa 1900, Ballyspallen Cricket Club is a small cross-community club run by a committee of volunteers offering cricket for everyone.  On the back of the success of their recreational cricket for ladies on a Friday night (provided in an effort to maintain good levels of health and wellbeing during lockdowns), the Club has started a competitive ladies cricket team – the first ever in the Roe Valley area.  And has been offering Zoom sessions to over 20 ladies to help improve their fitness and techniques.  Hoping to enter a team into the ladies league this year, and confirming that the Club can provide bats, pads, helmets, etc, they sought assistance with the purchase of regulation coloured clothing required to participate.  The Committee acknowledged that anything which encouraged participation in sport was worthwhile, and awarded a grant of £600 obo The Drapers’ Company towards 15 sets of ladies cricket match kit.
