Burndennett Cricket & Social Club, Strabane

Since its formation in 1973, Burndennett Cricket Club has grown from a field and tin shed changing room to purchasing their own ground with proper facilities – including clubhouse – and now forms a family-friendly hub at the heart of the community.  Their Senior and Ladies’ Teams (playing in the North West League) have gone from strength to strength, and a number of junior members have represented Ulster and Ireland.  The Club requested financial assistance to purchase a cricket practice cage and net for the grounds.  Councillor Boyle was familiar with the Club’s amateur status and praised the voluntary work undertaken to keep it running and maintain the grounds.  On her recommendation, the Committee approved a grant of £800.
