Although only formed in 2018, Causeway Giants has generated a lot of interest in American Football and now has over 35 members – catering for all ages from all communities and social backgrounds. The Club continues to grow and has recently secured an agreement with Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council to take over grounds at Lime Park, Armoy. Working with Armoy Community Association to develop the grounds, the Giants applied for funding to assist with the purchase of line marking equipment (including whitewash fluid) to mark out the pitches and surrounding spectator areas ahead of the summer season. Councillor Boyle was particularly supportive of this application and, on her recommendation, a grant of £600 was agreed. Learn more about the Club, and follow their fortunes via Facebook.
An update from Ross McKenzie (Treasurer) in November 2021
- confirmed that “American Football is a very expensive sport to run and to play, so we are very grateful for the support with this grant”;
- included a photograph of the line marking kit (see left); and
- invited us to “come watch a game in the 2022 season! Thank you”.
