Coleraine & District Talking News

Founded in 1974, this independent charity run by volunteers provides a ‘Talking Newspaper’ for the Causeway area, producing a weekly local news and magazine programme on CD for people who find it difficult to keep in touch with events through a traditional/printed newspaper.  They use plastic/recyclable envelopes recognised by Royal Mail under their ‘Articles for the Blind’ scheme and which generate a free postal service.  But their supply has diminished over time and they sought funding to help replenish stocks.  The Committee agreed this was a modest request and awarded a grant of £535 as per the charity’s estimate.

If you know someone in Coleraine, Ballymoney, Ballycastle, Limavady, Garvagh, Kilrea and surrounding areas including Rathlin Island who might benefit from the service, contact Barry Williamson on 028 7032 1814 or barry.williamson@outlook.com for more information.  Or visit https://sites.google.com/site/talkingnewsatnni/find-a-talking-newspaper to find a Talking Newspaper in other areas across NI.
