Having been given kind permission by Coleraine Grammar School to use current supplies of acrylic/PVC and their laser cutter at the Castlerock Road site to get started – and relying on donations of elastic and foam strips, Lynda (Curriculum Leader for Technology & Design at CGS) applied for funding towards materials to increase her manufacture of face shields for healthcare workers in local hospitals and care homes. The Committee was impressed and awarded the £870 she requested. Lynda got in touch as soon as she learned the cheque was on its way to “offer my sincere thanks for your help in acquiring materials for the PPE we have been making”. She hoped to get the new supplies ordered very shortly and intends to continue manufacturing for the foreseeable future. She added that “If you or any of your colleagues know of anywhere that requires face shields, please let me know” via email@example.com.
