Megargy & District Game & Conservation Society

Set up in 1989 by a group of like-minded people who wanted to pursue the traditional country sport of game shooting while at the same time preserving the wildlife in the beautiful Mid Ulster countryside, Megargy & District Game & Conservation Society continues to work very amicably with 105 landowners to support and protect the local history, environment and habitat through a wide variety of activities and pursuits.  They applied for funding towards the purchase one of two securely sealed (and rodent-proof) containers to store feed for pheasant, duck and partridge.  Edward Montgomery commented that MDGCS had won national awards for its environmental management and maintenance of rare species such as indigenous partridges.  Councillor McGuigan was also supportive of this application and, on his recommendation, the Committee awarded a grant of £1,000.
