As part of Mid Ulster District Council’s on-going support package for the voluntary and community sector, an emergency grant programme was created for organisations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in their local area. The programme offers financial support to assist constituted groups which are working to:
- Deliver food and essential items
- Link to pharmacies to deliver prescriptions
- Offer other emergency crisis community support
Agreement was given to allocate another £3,000 obo The Drapers’ Company, specifically for the work of Cookstown & Western Shores Area Network – an umbrella group which will deliver £150 small grants to community groups tackling Covid-19 issues in the Magherafelt and Cookstown areas – helping to provide hygiene and cleaning materials, bottled water and other supplies to vulnerable people.
