Newhill Football Club, Belfast

Founded in 1973, Newhill Football Club is one of the largest and most popular sports clubs in the West Belfast area and provides free and accessible footballing opportunities to some of the most deprived and disadvantaged young people in Northern Ireland.  The Club sought funding to replenish training equipment ahead of the 2020/21 season – assuming lockdown has been lifted.  And, impressed by NFC’s commitment to ensuring that young people have the best possible platform to succeed through sport, the Committee agreed with the proposal to award £600  from the Clothworker’s NI Fund – which will be paid at the commencement of training.  U6 Coach, Carl, wrote to confirm that “this grant was invaluable for our Club … the equipment ensured we could provide free and accessible football” – helping to get their young members outside and active, which he believed was particularly important after lockdown.
