St Martin’s GAC, Desertmartin

Another sporting club dedicated to the promotion of Gaelic games and culture, and with a membership in excess of 350 people, St Martin’s GAC caters for 14 football teams (male and female, U7’s to adult); promotes Irish dance and the Irish language; and is easily accessible by the local community.  The Club sought funding towards a range of sports equipment including cones, speed ladders, slalom poles, footballs, bibs, spot markers and ball carry nets.  Cllr Brian McGuigan confirmed this GAC encouraged young people to engage in team sports and worked to channel their energies into the right kind of activities.  The Committee awarded a Drapers’ grant of £700.
