Aghalee Village Hall, Craigavon

Built in 1933 to provide a suitable venue for the local community for educational and recreational classes and other important social events in this very rural area, Aghalee Village Hall is one of the last remaining Carnegie Halls in Ireland.  The charity planned to offer a series of music therapy and crafting workshops to its Senior Group over a six month period, and sought funding towards tutors and materials.  A grant of £1,000 from The Clothworkers NI Fund was endorsed by the Local Advisory Committee.

AVH’s Secretary, Pauline Bullen BEM, contacted us in January 2023 to thank the Irish Society and confirm that funding has been vital to enabling their Senior Group to have a singer in on a regular basis to bring back memories of earlier lives and a tutor to help create new memories and take part in activities which help improve dexterity and flexibility.  She added that The AgeNI Aghalee Group Manager has been delighted to offer these activities and group members look forward to the days when music therapy sessions take place.  However, Aghalee Village still requires your support:  if you can spare any amount to help keep the Hall running, please follow this link to donate via JustGiving.
