Proud of its founding (by Stella Burnside in 1994) and enduring association with Altnagelvin Hospital, Altnagelvin Hospital Choir has grown from a purely work-based membership to include staff, former staff, their relatives and friends; and other members of the local community who share the same vision. Their classical choir performs two main fund-raising concerts every year to support local and national charities which have a focus on health and/or social wellbeing. And they sought a contribution to a performance of Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor, K427, in Christ Church on Sunday 28 January 2024. Learning that the benefitting charity would be Life After – supporting those who have lost loved ones in a road traffic accident, an Irish Society grant of £750 was awarded to cover one of 16-20 orchestral ensemble players (£200), one of four soloists (£250), and the hire of music sheets (£300).
