Benvarden Friendship Group

This group of some 34 ladies – mostly from rural areas – meets every week for friendship, support and to share their knitting and crochet skills.  And charities at home and further afield benefit from their creations – from woolly hats for seafarers’ missions to covers and clothes for premature / sick babies and knee blankets for local care homes.  The Group sought funding for 10 members to learn the new skill of macrame, together with hooks and materials to complete garments for charity.  The Committee agreed an Irish Society grant of £650 towards skill training and materials.
