Established in 2005, BBT was now in need of new/up-to-date kitchen equipment and staff uniforms for its Healthy Eating Café . Providing hot, cheap/economical and healthy food, the café had operated a delivery service throughout the pandemic to those in isolation, of limited mobility or generally in need. BBT now wanted to improve its health and hygiene as it re-opened post-Covid and resumed its place as a social hub within the community. Councillor George Duddy knew the organisation well, commenting on the Ballysally estate’s desirability (with many people on the waiting list for homes there), and was in full support of the application. The Committee was therefore content to award an HIS grant of £1,000 (ie, £700 for kitchen equipment and £300 for staff uniforms).
