Carlisle Road Presbyterian Church, Derry

Situated close to two shelters – Foyle Valley House for homeless women and Damien House for men struggling with substance abuse, Carlisle Road Presbyterian Church was keen to become more involved with local community organisations and develop a long-term partnership with both shelters.  They had applied to other organisations for funding towards a kitchen refurbishment and assistance with outreach work in the shelter but, with concerns about potential break-ins and/or other damage to Church premises in such a close vicinity, they sought financial assistance with the installation of CCTV in advance.  Mayor Sandra Duffy was aware of the valuable work the Church does in the city (especially at Damien House) and was most supportive of the application.  The Committee also recognised the Church’s need for security and agreed to award an Irish Society grant of £1,000 towards CCTV.
