Causeway BEP Careers Convention

Having sponsored this annual event with a grant of £5,000 for a number of years, the Irish Society was delighted to learn that Causeway Business Education Partnership’s Careers Convention would take place on-line in 2021.  The Virtual Careers Forum offered a packed roster of companies and organisations plus Further and Higher Education providers to share their tips and insights to getting the perfect career to suit local teenagers.  The broadcast included items from Celebrity Chef Paula McIntyre MBE (sharing her message that positivity is key to realising your potential); Camilla Long from Bespoke Communications (offering valuable advice on how to sharpen interview skills); and Eve and Gary from Riada Resourcing (talking participants through a very practical session on Preparing for the World of Work).  Also a selection of sector specific panel discussions and a range of resources from Ulster University offering a menu of themes within employability and skills.  All videos are available at https://www.enterprisecauseway.co.uk/cbep-virtual-careers-forum-2021/, together with contact details and weblinks for all companies and organisations that took part.

We also learned that Enterprise Causeway intends to hold a careers digital training day for teachers in the next few months, as preparation towards a return to normal service in 2022.  So part of the Irish Society’s grant monies will help to fund that initiative, too.
