Causeway Coast Ringing Group

Based in Coleraine, this Group studies bird populations both locally and further afield, catching and tagging birds as part of the British & Irish scheme run by the British Trust for Ornithology.  The scheme in the UK is entirely voluntary and the cost of rings (a range of sizes for different bird species) is at the expense of the Group.  In recent years they have utilised an Environmental Recording Group Fund but this is not currently available due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so they looked to the Irish Society for ‘sponsorship’.  The Committee agreed a grant of £700 to ensure that important data could still be collected for the BTO this year.
