Celebrating Creative Cultures

As reported in The Coleraine Chronicle on 1st August 2024, Building Communities Resource Centre (BCRC) were delighted to welcome Duane Farrell, Secretary & Chief Executive of The Honourable The Irish Society (HIS) in Ballymoney.  They wanted to show the difference HIS funding has made; namely their recent Creative Cultures events and newly refurbished ‘Safe Space’.  Representing her co-Ambassadors, Shikha Khullar (BCRC) said delivering the Creative Cultures programme “was a lovely experience – my audience was very attentive and indulging, I had the feeling I was bringing people closer to my culture and felt good doing it”.  Sergeant Wendy McConnell representing Causeway Coast & Glens PSNI also voiced her approval for BCRC’s timely transformation of its Safe Space as part of their role in helping combat hate crime in their community, offering a safe and neutral environment to assist people to report hate crimes and incidents:  “Since refurbishment, the room is so much more warm and inviting – my sincere thanks to everyone for making this a very pleasant venue to work from”.   It can also be used as a counselling room which can be rented by contacting Jillian on 028 2766 5068 or by e-mailing info@theresourcecentre.org.  BCRC expressed their “sincere thanks to The Honourable The Irish Society who made both the Creative Cultures programme and refurbished Safe Space become a reality”.  [Pic Chris Roberts]
