Churches’ Voluntary Work Bureau (t/a North West Volunteer Centre), Derry

A project of CVWB, the North West Volunteer Centre works to promote and connect people to volunteer opportunities across the Derry City & Strabane District Council area – covering over 300 organisations and spanning 22 categories including children and young people, community development, disabilities, drugs and alcohol, heritage/conservation and environment, and men’s and women’s groups affiliated to the Centre.  They sought financial support for their 40th anniversary celebrations taking place at the Bishop’s Gate Hotel on 26th October 2023 and presentation of a video demonstrating why people volunteer; individual benefits of volunteering; differences to health and wellbeing from volunteering; and the difference volunteers make to local communities.  With the event taking place in the very near future, the Committee was quick to agree an Irish Society grant of £1,000 towards a videographer and editing – to be paid as soon as possible.
