Coleraine Grammar School

An unexpected victory in the NI Regional Final of the Young Citizens’ Bar Mock Trial Competition in December 2023 led to a team of 14 6^th Form Pupils from Coleraine Grammar School travelling to the Royal Courts of Justice in London on 16^th March 2024.  A conservative estimate for this was £450 per person, and the School approached the Irish Society for a contribution.  The Committee agreed an HIS grant of £1,000 towards overall costs, and the Governor suggested Trustees such as Oliver Sells and Alderman Greg Jones (both KCs) be alerted to the visit.  We later learned through Facebook that CGS won the UK Final – a test of nerve, skill and persuasiveness, beating off stiff competition from over 186 schools from across the whole of the UK.  So CONGRATULATIONS to CGS!
