A community-based project founded in 1998, Community Restorative Justice works in partnership with all statutory and community groups tackling safety issues, mediation service, crime prevention and supporting individuals who have issues with substance mis-use, and/or mental health problems. The organisation planned a ‘holistic well-being initiative’ for local men in the Galliagh area who are either retired, isolated and recovering from addiction, unemployed or suffer (or have suffered) from mental health issues. And sought funding to extend the initial eight week programme for a further four weeks. The Committee awarded an Irish Society grant of £1,000 to cover the cost of eight facilitators, materials, guest speakers and mentors, and room hire for the additional four week period.
