County Down Camogie Club

Founded in 1904, County Down Camogie facilitates training, matches, workshops and other events across a wide area, providing opportunities for all women – young and older; promoting physical activity; improving mental wellbeing; and increasing skills for the game of camogie to competition standard.  Aiming to be fully inclusive and run the programme at no cost to participants, the Club applied for a grant to assist with its “Enhancing Health & Wellbeing for Girls” course to address many key needs and issues faced by young girls in the community and further afield.  Recognising the lack of sporting provision across the County, and particularly the number of girls already at risk to drop out of sport in their teenage years, the Committee was content to approve a grant of £750 from the Clothworkers’ NI Fund towards balls, hurls, cones, slalom poles, bibs and all important first aid kits.
