A co-educational all ability post-primary school serving pupils between the ages of 11 and 18, Lisneal College is pastoral at heart – placing strong emphasis on supporting students emotionally as well as academically. But, even with a Family Support Worker and School Nurse in place, the need for services is overwhelming. As a result, the College has established a Wellbeing Team and plans to create a Wellbeing Hub offering a space for students to take time in a calm and therapeutic environment during their day to help them regulate emotionally and cope with anxieties or worries they may experience. The Committee recognised how an increase in demand outstripped services/facilities available and – accepting a declaration of interest from Alderman Drew Thompson – agreed a grant of £1,000 from the NW Schools’ Fund.
