Londonderry Musical Society

Founded in 1962, LMS applied for funding to help stage a 60^th Anniversary Celebratory Concert in the Millennium Forum Theatre under the baton of their newly appointed Musical Director, Mr Louis Fields, and including performances from past members, soloists and ensembles plus a mixed over-50’s choir.  Cllr Sandra Duffy confirmed she was in regular contact with the LMS and advised they make a big impact and bring a great deal of joy to many through their performances.  She believed a grant from the LAC would be money well spent.  Trustees were also familiar with Louis Fields, having met him the previous day to hand over a grant to St Columb’s School of Music, and the Committee had no hesitation in agreeing a grant of £1,000 towards the Musical Director’s fee and accompanist.
