Mountsandel Discovery & Heritage Group, Coleraine

Whilst other members of the Irish Society’s Visitation party were currently enjoying a guided tour of Mountsandel historic site, the Local Advisory Committee considered the Mountsandel Discovery & Heritage Group’s request for funding towards running a programme of cross-community school workshops in September.  Repeating a field trip that has taken place successfully in previous years, the programme will include the archaeological site of Mountsandel; foraging/gathering in the woods and uses of different plants; hunting games (stealth and teamwork); and a session on stone tools.  The Committee readily agreed an HIS grant of £720 to cover facilitator fees (3 x £600) and the cost of two mini buses to transport pupils to the Mountsandel site (and return).
