Run by a Committee of 18 volunteers, NA Piarsaigh Doire Trasna currently caters for just over 500 members – 300 of whom are under the age of 18. Providing an outlet for young people to keep them off the streets and offering a healthy alternative to anti-social behaviour, the Club applied for funding to improve facilities for their teams, coaches and visitors – including a dugout/shelter and small shed for storage and/or to run a small kitchen serving refreshments, selling Club merchandise, and doubling as a first aid room. Both the Mayor of Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council and Cllr Mooney commended the Club’s dedication to so many young people’s interest in sport and the Committee awarded an Irish Society grant of £1,000.
