Originally established in 1999, since July 2022 Open Doors Club has been an independent voluntary group dedicated to the most vulnerable, disabled and disadvantaged people living in the rural community of Swatragh and surrounding villages – some 30+ members ranging in ages from 14-50 with different disabilities, physical, learning, autism, dyslexia and downs syndrome. The Club planned to conclude their summer term of activities with a special party celebrating 25 years in existence – with families and friends joining in to enjoy a great evening’s entertainment. Cllr Brian McGuigan spoke highly of the Club and the fantastic work their volunteers do with disabled people and, on his recommendation, the Committee readily agreed a grant of £950 towards a karaoke machine and microphone set, Apple i-pad, sporting equipment and catering pump Flasks – which can be used at the function and in Music & Dance and other classes and events.
