Orchard Community Playgroup, Ballykelly

A cross-community organisation situated in the rural land of Ballykelly, OCP operates five days a week and offers a happy and caring environment where children aged 3-4 years can learn through active involvement with natural materials and enjoy the opportunity to express their own ideas and interests.  With this in mind, the Playgroup applied for funding to help run a Jo-Jingles Music and Movement programme – providing fun, interactive music, singing and movement classes for pre-school children.  The Committee was unanimous in awarding the full amount – £1,200 obo The Drapers’ Company – so that 40 children could benefit from the six-week programme aiming to improve language and speech, stimulate imagination, build on social skills and make friends, to learn songs, how to hold a tune and/or play percussion instruments.
