The Society is delighted to support an initiative from Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council. “Our Guildhall, Our Space” youth initiative is an inclusive programme designed to make the iconic Guildhall more accessible to young people. It focuses on mental health, well-being, leadership, and problem-solving, while fostering an environment where young people can meet, relax, and enjoy live music, healthy food, and engaging activities in a safe, welcoming space.
Speaking after attending one of the events at the Guildhall, Secretary and CEO Duane Farrell said “The Society’s grants are aimed at supporting community initiatives which support and develop communities. Being in the room at the Guildhall for this event demonstrated the value of opening up our civic spaces for the community. The Guildhall was busy with children and young people from across the Council area engaging with each other, building relationships and building confidence. Well done to the Mayor and the Council team responsible for pulling these events together.
