S.A.L.T Community Association, Claudy

Seeking to address the health, social, recreational, education, community and environmental needs of everyone in its locality, S.A.L.T  applied for funding towards improvements to its Community Hall and surrounding grounds – including the purchase of shrubs and paint (to ‘refresh’ fencing), addition of new kerbing; and repairs to coping on the wall.  Cllr Duddy was familiar with many of S.A.L.T’s Committee members and the community – in a rural area suffering from social deprivation.  The Secretary also noted that it had been 20 years since S.A.L.T had approached the Irish Society for funding.  On this basis, the LAC was content to award a grant of £1,000 obo The Drapers’ Company.
