This relatively new pre-school situated in the Desertmartin community has made massive strides in the quality of services/facilities on offer to help prepare children for their first year in primary school, but still felt lacking in ICT – a huge part of all our daily lives. Slieve Gallion currently has a range of computers allowing staff to interact with the children in a digital manner and believed the addition of a new projector would provide an enhanced learning environment – from completing literacy and numeracy tasks to whole class well-being activities. Cllr Brian McGuigan knew of the pre-school, and confirmed this very small, rural and close-knit community was well worthy of support. Being close to Moneymore (Drapers’ ‘territory’), the Committee agreed a Drapers’ grant of £1,035 to meet the full cost of the projector quoted in the application.
