Formed in 1992, St Macartan’s Ladies GFC currently fields teams from U10 to Senior Level. And, in an effort to increase participation in sport in a large rural catchment area, the Ladies sought assistance with funding a new “come and try” health and fitness programme for girls and women in the community who have never attempted much exercise or sport before. In addition to weekly light activities such as circuits, yoga and walking/jogging, the Club’s experienced and qualified LGFA coaches will offer advice on healthy eating, improving mental health, etc. And teach participants to play Gaelic Football. Learning that the Club will also share equipment with others in the community and collaborate with different groups for the betterment of female sport and life, the Committee gladly endorsed a grant of £1,500 from the Clothworkers’ NI Fund.
