Timothy Oland

Wrestling NI had written to 12 year old Timothy congratulating him on being selected to represent Northern Ireland at the Helsinki International Championships 2022 in Finland but, although still expected to continue attending club sessions as well as any NTS squad sessions plus selected competitions in the run up to Helsinki, it seemed the organisation was not offering any financial support for the trip in December 2022.  Learning that Timothy, a first year pupil at Dalradia Grammar School in Ballymoney, was a promising young wrestler who has already competed and succeeded on a national level (and had this year achieved bronze at the British Junior Championships and a silver at the English Schools), the Committee was content to offer an individual grant of £250 – on condition of confirmation that Wrestling NI was not contributing.  However, this was later uplifted to £500 when it became clear his family were not receiving any other financial help.
